How To Achieve Your Fitness Goals

Updated: Dec 24, 2023

When it comes to achieving fitness goals and living healthier lifestyles, the only thing standing in the way is ourselves.

It's time to get serious about your fitness. Face yourself and achieve the transformation you want. Here are some tips on how to hold yourself accountable.

Achieve Your Fitness Goals By Doing It For A Cause

When you find you’re struggling with self-motivation, get motivated by supporting a cause you believe in!

By working for a cause, you become accountable to the people who pledge money, the people who are cheering you on, and, most importantly, the cause you are trying to help.

What’s a cause you can get behind?

A cause I got behind with no questions was when a race popped up that supported Orcas. Orcas are my favorite animal and I have and continue to be very passionate about leaving them where they belong... in the wild.

A race popped up that supported this and I joined immediately. I ran 54 miles in 56 days. And I actually enjoyed it because I knew I was doing it for something bigger than me.

Sign A Contract

This doesn’t have to be anything serious. Sit down by yourself, or with a friend, and write down what your workouts will entail, how often you’ll complete them, and your end goal. Make a commitment to yourself by signing a physical contract with a witness.

You may even want to add a contingency; for example, if you skip three workouts in a row, you have to do x for the person witnessing your contract. Get creative!

What stipulations could be included in your contract?

Set A Date

Setting a workout date with a friend can be very motivating. On days you aren’t feeling up to getting in the gym, knowing someone else is counting on you to show up can make all the difference.

Who can you recruit as your workout buddy?

What Can You Do From Home?

On days you are strapped for time and just can't make it to the gym for your normal routine, make sure to have a backup plan for a home workout.

Sometimes what is stopping you from your fitness goals is the physical act of having to go somewhere.

If this happens to you more than not ask yourself what can you do at home to achieve your fitness goals?

Easy options include a yoga sequence, resistance training, or some body-weight exercises.
